"Quiet Observer"
This bashful black bear is crafted from 88 hand cut pieces utilizing a scroll saw. This style of woodworking is called "Intarsia". Intarsia first began in the early 1300's and continued through the 1600's. The art seemed to disappear until it resurfaced in the 1980's. It is still not widely known but it is an extremely unique style of woodworking. No dyes or stains are used. What you see is the natural color of the wood. Because of this each art piece is unique and one of a kind.
The frame is crafted from white oak as is the tree the bear cub is clinging to. The frame also features black walnut splines adding stability and a gorgeous accent.
